I had the wonderful opportunity to dance for Brandon Dumlao in his new video among other very talented dancers. 

I’ve seen Brandon throughout the past few years grow as a dancer, and he is one of my favorites for several reasons—his strength, dedication to improving, and fearlessness in expressing himself as a dancer.  If you take his class, his musicality will challenge your ear and his movements will challenge you physically.

Our culture, even in it’s darkness and struggles, carries so much beauty.  This is not just a video.. this is really life in the Philippines.

So many of us take so many things for granted.  For a lot of Filipino Americans, I feel that we are very detached from our homeland and are clueless as to what is going on there.  We don’t understand what certain living situations force people to do and become… mainly the children… we don’t understand the daily perils of the streets, and we here in America take a lot of things for granted very easily.

This video brought me back and it really made me miss the Philippines so much.  Filipinos are strong and capable of lots of things.  Even in the midst of their hardships, champions rise out of it!

I love the Philippines and it is always in my prayers.  I feel that this video speaks volumes.
